Ofelia Capatina joined CERN in 2001 to work on the design, manufacturing and installation of LHC accelerator components. Since 2008, she has been the leader of the Engineering Design and Measurements section of CERN’s Mechanical and Materials Engineering group.
After completing her high school education in Romania, Ofelia moved to France to begin her university studies. She holds a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Vibrations and Acoustics and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (European Programme of the French National Institute for Applied Sciences, INSA), for which she studied concurrently with a BSc in Mathematics at the Université Claude Bernard in Lyon. She also obtained a diploma in statistics from the Open University (UK).
