Kate Yates is Chief Executive of Plumbing Pensions, one of the UK’s largest industry-wide, multi-employer defined-benefit pension schemes. Kate is an experienced pension professional with strategic, governance, operational and management experience from running a large and complex pension scheme. Kate enjoys the challenge of providing an affordable pension fund that members value.
Kate’s role at Plumbing Pensions includes providing strategic and operational support to Board of Trustee directors, managing all aspects of running the pension scheme, communicating with the union and employer organisations and overseeing the scheme’s investment portfolio. Kate recently led a project to fundamentally improve the scheme’s governance arrangements.
Kate is a member of the Pension & Lifetime Savings Association Defined-Benefit Policy Committee in the UK. She previously worked at Towers Watson, where she was Scheme Actuary for a range of defined-benefit pension schemes. Kate is a Fellow of the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries and has a first-class honours degree in economics and statistics from the University of Exeter (UK).
