Alain Delorme is a senior contract officer and the deputy head of the Contract and Procurement department at the European Southern Observatory.
He joined ESO in 2010 and conducted several major procurement processes for the ELT (Extremely Large Telescope) and VLT (Very Large Telescope).
Based in Chile from 2012 to 2015, he led the local contract and procurement team and was responsible for ESO’s local procurements.
Alain holds an MSc in economics, which he obtained from the Paris Sorbonne University in 1993. After graduating, he worked in France and abroad in several private companies as a business unit manager, at the French Ministry of Defence and in an international organisation, before joining ESO.
