Early Retirement Pension
The amount of the early retirement pension is based on the following data:
Article II 2.04 Entitlement to Early Retirement Pension
A beneficiary of a deferred retirement pension is entitled to receive an early retirement pension as follows:
- for members who joined the Fund on or before 31 December 2011, from the age of 50;
- for members who joined the Fund on or after 1 January 2012, from the age of 52.

- Reference salary
- Years of membership (including purchases)
- Reduction factor due to age
- Reduction factor in the event of incomplete contributions
An early retirement pension is paid until the last day of the month of the beneficiary’s death.
Calculation
- if you joined the Fund on or before 31 December 2011:
- 2% of your final reference salary x years of membership x reduction factor due to age x reduction factor for incomplete contributions (if relevant)
- if you joined the Fund on or after 1 January 2012:
- 1.85% of the average of your last 36 months’ reference salaries x years of membership x reduction factor due to age x reduction factor for incomplete contributions (if relevant)
Payment
Benefits are paid monthly in Swiss francs, between 6 and 8 of the month, into a personal bank account in a CERN/ESO Member State or Associate Member State, provided that operational requirements are met (standard international IBAN payments must be supported). Any bank or transfer fees would be at your expense.
