Doug Heron is Chief Executive Officer of the Pension Fund of CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research based in Geneva, Switzerland. The Fund manages approximately 5 billion Swiss francs in assets, both internally and externally. Doug was appointed by the CERN Council in March 2021 and took up his role in August of the same year.

Before joining the CERN Pension Fund, Doug was Chief Executive Officer of the Lothian Pension Fund in Edinburgh, and has previously held executive roles in the finance industry in the United Kingdom and China with a total of more than 20 years of experience.

Doug holds an honours degree in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Glasgow and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI).
